Description: Annual grass, commonly confused with wild oat. Dig down, and look at seed coat in order to distinguish between the two.
Flowers: Large spikeletes have awns that are 1 to 2 inches long. Florets have tiny, strong teeth- injurous to pets and livestock.
Leaves: Tubular sheath as a seedling. Soft hairs cover the blades and sheath. Ligule is white and jagged.
Reproduction: Seed dispersal only. Seeds stick to animal fur, shoes, etc. Cannot reproduce vegetatively.
