Description: Glabrous, glaucous plant with a decumbent or erect stem, simple or branched and hollow.
Flowers:
Many flowers on the inflorescence, generally a purple-red color (although may be pink or white). Produces a small, glabrous fruit. Leaves: 5-8 cm, oblong to lanceolate in shape the upper are sessile while the lower are petiolate.
Reproduction: By seed.
Flowering:
Habitat and Ecology: Native to the Mediterranean ad Europe.

Both leaves and roots are edible.
