Common names: Orchard Grass, Cocksfoot
Description: Long lived perennial herb reaching up to 4 feet.
Flowers: 2 to 8 inch long inflorescence. Crowded, pale green to purpleish, two to five flowers on each spikelet. Lowest flowering branch will stick out on its own, giving the plant the distinct name, Cocksfoot.
Leaves: Blades are flat, reaching 3 to 10 inches long and up to .3 inches wide. Rough to the touch.
Reproduction: By seed.
Flowering: May through August
Habitat and Ecology: Native to Europe.
