Description: Annual grass with culms spreading from the base. Reaching 1.5 to 4 decimeters long.
Flowers: Setaceous (bristly) glumes. Lateral spikelets have shorter glumes and awns than central spikelets. Spread at maturity.
Leaves: Sheaths and blades are slightly pubescent erect, oblong and 1.5 to 3 cm long.
Reproduction: By seed.
Flowering: April through June.
Habitat and Ecology: Native to Europe.
