Description: Evergreen shrub or tree, typically 3 to 6 m high. Many branches with minute hairs.
Flowers: White, four petaled flowers form clusters. Female plants produce 7-8 mm wide, bright red berries.
Leaves: 4 to 8 cm long, twisted and with widely space spines and a leathery appearance. Upper leaves are without spines.
Reproduction: By seed.
