Common names: Italian Rye Grass
Description: Winter annual, with erect, spreading and decumbents stems growing up to 5 inches tall.
Flowers: Seed head is a spike from with 11 to 22 awned flowers, 4 to 6 inches long with spikelets arranged alternately along the stem.
Leaves: 2 1/2 to 8 inches long and 4 to 10 mm wide. Usually shiny, especially on the lower surface. Sheaths are usually red at the base.
Reproduction: By seed.
